Today in 1956, Leo Fender received a patent for the Stratocaster guitar. It’s become one of the most famous guitar bodies EVER. It’s used by players from blues to alternative to classic rock. Let’s take a look at a handful of the strat-masters.

Eric Clapton,

Pete Townshend of The Who,

And of course, Jimi Hendrix taking the right-handed guitars and restringing them for his lefty.

But besides the classic rock gods, this guitar is used all across music:

Alternative’s ‘The 1975’

Rock-alternative’s ‘Weezer’
