Lovely start to the weekend, big chill coming for early next week

Temperatures in the mid-60s to near 70 before Sunday storm system.

Jacksonville, Fl — The work week ends with another nice winter day. Temperatures climb to the mid-60s with mostly sunny conditions. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says it’s going to be chilly tonight with some light frost well inland between 2 and 5 am.

Saturday will be even milder with lots of sunshine and temperatures climbing to 70 degrees.

Sunday is when a front moves through with morning rain and a rumble of thunder, ending west to east midday through the afternoon. Temps will climb to the mid-60s before falling as skies clear.

MLK Day and early next week may be the coldest stretch of weather this winter. Monday will be breezy and chilly but sunny. Temperatures will not make it out of the 50s.

Morning lows early in the week will be in the 30s with inland frost and, possibly, our first official freeze at JAX.

Tuesday is looking sunny and below average, with temperatures only near 60.
