❤️ One in Four Couples Are “Polar Opposites” — But You Should Have 54% in Common

Some couples are so similar it’s like looking in a mirror 🪞… while others make you wonder, how did they even meet?!

A recent survey found that 26% of people in relationships say they and their partner are total “polar opposites.” Yet, 73% of people believe opposites attract 💘.

These differences often look like:

  • Extrovert vs. introvert 🗣️🤫
  • Planner vs. spontaneous person 📅🎉
  • Creative thinker vs. nuts-and-bolts doer 🎨🔧
  • Totally different jobs and hobbies 💻⚽

Opposite traits can actually work if both partners enjoy their own space and rely on each other to complement their strengths. It also exposes both to new experiences they might not try alone.

But most people don’t want a partner with zero shared interests. Survey respondents said the ideal is sharing about 54% of similarities ✅.

Most important things to match on:

  • Core values ✨
  • Family & future goals 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
  • Relationship boundaries 🚦

Least important:

  • Career goals 💼
  • Fitness & health 🏋️‍♂️
  • Hobbies 🎮🎸

Interestingly, the longer couples are together, the more they tend to meet in the middle. Over half of surveyed couples now report sharing more similarities than differences compared to when they first met 💑.

So yes, opposites may attract, but having a little in common is key to making love last! ❤️
